The official version of events

The official version of events regarding the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is as follows: On September 11, 2001, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks were carried out by al-Qaeda, an Islamist extremist group. Nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two of these planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were flown into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, causing the buildings to collapse. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was headed towards Washington, D.C., but passengers attempted to overpower the hijackers, leading the plane to crash into a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, significant destruction, and led to major changes in U.S. national security policies, including the initiation of the War on Terror and the invasion of Afghanistan to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power. The events of 9/11 are widely regarded as one of the most significant terrorist acts in history.
